What's New In Bridal Fashion
Everyone is going green. How can you as a bride be a part of this movement? Well you can start with your dress. One way to do this is to have a dress made of cotton. What could be more natural. There are a multitude of different cotton fabrics available from light weight sheers to heavy brocades. From the purest white to tan and every color in between. There is even cotton with a satin weave if you want a little shine to your dress. Also aside from the fact that it is a natural fiber, it could cost less to make as well. But that doesn't mean that all cotton is inexpensive. Some of the finest cotton can cost more the best silk.
How To Handle A Bridal Gown
Most women, although stylish, may have never worn anything as cumbersome and delicate as some bridal gowns. The fabric may be hand beaded, the skirt may be very full, and the fabric may be of a delicate silk. You as the bride should stand tall and erect with shoulders back and try to move gracefully. The gown should be just short enough for the tips of your shoes to show.
And just how are you suppose to get in that full skirted ball gown? I have seen many a bride struggle to get her gown over her head after having spent hours on her hair and makeup. This is not the way to go.
Have your petticoat (if it is separate from the dress) put inside of the dress. Then with help (here is where your bridesmaids come in) you simply step into the petticoat and gown and have the gown pulled up and zipped. I know that you'll think the gown will get wrinkled but trust me, a few wrinkles at the hem of your gown is much better that trying to remove lipstick or mascara from it which is bound to happen pulling it over your head.
Black-tie Optional?
Should you put 'black-tie optional' on the invitations? The answer is NO. The formality of the wedding is indicated by certain clues usually the time of day and the location of the reception. If you feel that you must indicate a style of dress, put this information on the reception card in the lower right corner. Black-tie optional means that a man may wear either a tuxedo or a dark suit with a button front shirt and tie. For the ladies it means knee-length, so cocktail dresses are permitted. Avoid black-tie 'preferred' as this could be confusing. Formal weddings are usually held before 10AM or after 6pm followed by a formal meal.

Help! I'm Allergic
You would love to have flowers at your wedding, in the reception decor, and your bouquet. But what do you do if you are allergic to the fragrance of real flowers? Well you could work with silk flowers. There are many beautiful silk flowers that look great however really good quality and high quantity may run into a higher budget. Instead talk with a florist about tropicals. Most tropicals are beautiful without any fragrance at all.
Do I Need A Wedding Planner
The best tip I could give any bride is to hire a wedding/planner. No matter how large or small your event, planning a wedding is like producing a play or a movie. There are so many people invovled in bringing the vision of the bride and groom to life. And an event planner can help. A planner can negotiate with the vendors to help keep the event on budget. They may even know where to find the special elements needed to create the ideas you have. An event planner on the day of the event is critical. The planner cues the DJ, sees that the venue has been set up properly, and basically makes sure that things happen when they should and things flow smoothly. So even if you are on really tight budget, consider getting a planner for they day. It will be money will spent. One main point to remember is that something will go wrong on the day of the event. Roll with it. Remind yourself the most important thing is a happy couple enjoying and sharing their day with those they love.
Drink? Who Me?
Yes you. Remember. Even though this is a celebration there is nothing pretty about a bride who has had too much to drink. Make sure you eat early before the ceremony and keep something on your stomach as the day goes on. Too many brides have had so much fun meeting with their guests and family that they forget to eat and then they drink alcohol and then it's all down hill from there. So remember, eat and keep the drinking in check.
